Lithuanian Drug Ring? 17. júlí 2006 11:04 In the last eighteen months there have been four major drug busts in Iceland all connected to six Lithuanian men. Their arrest has prevented over fifty kilos of drugs being sold in the country. Speculation abounds in Iceland that a Lithuanian mafia has become firmly rooted in the Icelandic underworld. Eight Lithuanians are currently in the Icelandic prison of Litla Hraun. Reykjavík Chief of Police, Hördur Jóhannesson says that it would appear that an organisation in Lithuania provides mules and sells the drugs that are smuggled into Iceland. "In some cases it proves very difficult to find suspects as these people cover their tracks well." Three Lithuanians were also arrested trying to import amphetamine-base and sulphuric acid used to make amphetamine. Jóhannesson adds that police are investigating the possible production of amphetamine in Iceland.
